President Wenig raised a question in regard to this topic.
"Do[es] [The F&A committee] envision that we will continue the practice of having a brief mid-year review with the ED to identify any areas that need attention, and to reaffirm the format for the Year End review?"
As Vice-Chair of F&A, my recommendation to Chair Prince was that we would also use this form's items for the mid-year performance check-in, but I don't think we need to issue a preliminary tabulated score. Instead, I assume the president will go through the items and indicate her sense of where the Board is at on each evaluation item and expectations for the rest of the year. Then individual directors will add or amend her overview before getting feedback from the ED on our remarks, as well as her requests to the Board. By the end, we should have a shared calibration of how we are jointly performing, areas to address (if any), decision bottlenecks (if any), and what we are expecting on performance by the evaluation deadline.
My impression was that this proposed format was satisfactory to the ED.
